Who would benefit from The St.Louis Cabaret Conference?
Experienced adult singers and performers who are interested in developing a deeper connection to their material and their audience. You do not need experience specific to cabaret to benefit. The training also greatly assists musical theater and jazz singers to develop a more dynamic presence in their performing work. Audition or taped submission is required.
What to expect at The St. Louis Cabaret Conference?
Each singer will perform songs that they have selected, prepared and memorized for the faculty. All work is done in a group setting. Group settings greatly benefit individual singers. Singers are divided into two groups: those new to the work and those with experience. The critical feedback from the faculty includes internal (subtext, personal connection) and external (audience relationship) focus of the song, song choice, arrangements, patter and working with your music director, among other topics. Each singer will perform one song in the closing night Final Showcase before an audience in a professional venue.
What are the results of The St. Louis Cabaret Conference?
Each singer will leave the four day workshop with a stronger understanding of who they are on stage, a deeper sense of what direction they want to go as a performer, how to better connect to their material and to their audience.
